Some days I have it all together and some days… I don’t. At this point, I’ve been eating clean for the most part of 5 years but I still go through plenty of periods where I screw up.
A lot of times it’s because I sample too many sweet things and end up addicted to sugar so have to wean myself off again. (I have a major sweet tooth!) Other times, I don’t know what comes over me and I start ravishing everything I know I shouldn’t eat.
I was in Seattle recently and on my last day, I bought a chocolate bar and two slices of pizza! I haven’t eaten a full slice of pizza in years. In fact, I rarely eat dairy, gluten or sugar! And I rarely crave it anymore. But I just HAD to have it. So I did.
Two weeks ago, my mom and I were on vacation in Nantucket and drank far too much red wine and ate WAY too much food. To the point that I was bloated, uncomfortable and made myself sick.
And when I came home to LA, a friend came to visit me. Even though we ate at mostly organic healthy places, we ate out the entire weekend I continuously overindulged. I had too much food, too many healthy sweets, and definitely too much wine.
A few days ago, I felt pretty disgusting… and ill.
I’m telling you this because I believe it’s important for you to know that I’m not perfect. And it’s ok for you to not be too. Always know that you’re not alone!
Also, it gets easier. A LOT easier. The cleaner you eat, the more desirable healthy food is, the more you crave it and the less you crave the processed junk food. And you’ll always cheat, but you’ll have less and less of a desire to. And as time goes on, you’re more likely to enjoy your indulgences and are less likely to feel guilty and beat yourself up for it.
Here are some pictures from my trip to Nantucket!
Yes, I screwed up. But I had a lovely time and wouldn’t take any of it back.
Every time I mess up, I unintentionally teach myself a lesson. After a cheat, I feel physically awful. As a result, I’m far less likely to do it again for a very long time.
So over the years, I’ve screwed up a lot. But it doesn’t happen nearly as often as it used to. And I no longer feel guilty when I do, because I know it happens less and less. And I know that I can do what it takes to get back on track and to feeling good again in no time.
It’s OK to be messy. It’s ok to make mistakes. The important part is that you always end up coming back around to where you want to be. And at the end of the day, you’re closer to reaching your goals and are happier and healthier than when you started.
To remedy my latest mishaps, I created this 24-hour juice cleanse to get back on track. I did it yesterday and feel SO much better!
I’m definitely going to be juicing again soon.
