These are a handful of kitchen essentials that I bring absolutely everywhere. Seriously, most of these gadgets have been to South America, Africa, Europe and soon, Asia!
1. Citrus Press
I use this one nearly every day and sometimes several times a day. First thing in the morning, I use it to make my warm lemon water with cayenne pepper. I use fresh lime or lemon juice in nearly all of my salad dressings and in most of my cooked meals as well.
This accompanies me anytime I travel somewhere for at least a month. Not only does it chop my carrots into perfect 1/4 size pieces, it doubles as a storage container.
3. Garlic/Ginger/Turmeric Press
This is another gadget I use every day. If there’s one kitchen tool I couldn’t live without, this one is it! Thanks to my press, I always have the perfect amount of garlic, ginger or turmeric in every bite.
4. Freezable Lunch Bag
If you’re a meat eater and like to make your own meals for on-the-go, then this is a must have! The cooler is built right into the sides of the lunch bag. Put the whole thing in the freezer and take it out when you’re ready to go.
This is the mac daddy of all the kitchen travel essentials. When I was in Cape Town, I was able to get organic green smoothies easily. Hamburg doesn’t have such a luxury so I bit the bullet (pun intended) and invested in this blender. It’s the BEST! Now I can have a green veggie smoothie each and every single day!
I love having “pasta” wherever I am and this spiralizer let’s me have it as often as i like. It doesn’t take up much space and turns my veggies into pretty pasta-like swirls. Spiralized zucchini can totally pass for pasta in my book.
This is another one, I only bring if I’m traveling to a destination for at least a month or if I’m going somewhere I know I’ll be cooking for friends. There’s nothing like having lightly steamed veggies when the mood calls for it.
8. Wine Opener
A girl’s gotta have her red wine.
